Regarding the booster club meeting which was scheduled to be at school Mondaynight, we will have to postpone that. Looking at the weather forecast forMonday, the chances of school being open Monday look slim. Also, the 7th and8th grade tournament is now scheduled to begin on Thursday. We will announcethe date and time of the booster club meeting when it is scheduled.Thank you.

From the Superintendent

We would like to begin our instrumental music lessons next week. In conjunction with that, Mr. Bob Simonds, the music teacher, would like to meet with all instrument students this Thursday at 3:15 at school. The meeting will last between 45 minutes and an hour.

Because of the weather, we will send report cards out this Thursday, January 14. Parent-Teacher conferences will be the following Thursday, January 21, from 3:00 to 6:00.

Our High School Chorus has been selected to sing the National Anthem at an Atlanta Braves game this coming season. The game we have been assigned is on Tuesday, June 1, at 7:00 PM against the Philadelphia Phillies. Average attendance for a game against Philadelphia is around 30,000 people. We had hoped to be assigned a game before school was out, but that was not possible. We have a section of very good seats reserved, and we can make those tickets available to members of our school community at a discounted price. If you and your family would like to attend this game, please let me know. I hope that we will have a large contingent on hand to support our students.

Please continue to check the Nashville TV stations to learn of school closings due to weather. If school is closed, that information will be posted on WKRN-2, WSMV-4, and FOX-17 as soon as that decision is made. An announcement would also be put on the blog.

Newsletter

From the Superintendent

I hope that everyone had a safe and joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year. It is good to be back and to see our students and teachers again. We are excited that our enrollment continues to grow. Our enrollment has increased by six students this week.

As many of you are probably aware, there is snow in the forecast for this week. For information about possible school closing, please check the Nashville TV stations. If school is closed, that information will be posted on WKRN-2, WSMV-4, and FOX-17. as soon as that decision is made.

When you check the snow tracker, look for Boyd to appear with the area private schools. If we are closed, we will be listed alphabetically as F.C. Boyd Christian School among the private schools.

Please remember that we will not open school late. We will either close for the entire day or open at the usual time. In addition, we will not close because of cold weather, as long as our heaters work!

Our high school basketball teams participated in the Wilson County Invitational tournament over the holidays. Congratulations to Dana Wells and J.T. Morgan, who were named to the All-Tournament team.

J.T.’s father, Lt. John Morgan of the McMinnville Police Department, recently saved the life of a man when he rescued the individual from a burning hotel room. The law enforcement and emergency response personnel who serve our community and put their lives on the line every day probably never receive the thanks they deserve. While all of us would probably risk our lives to help a relative or friend in danger, it takes a person of special character to be willing to risk their lives for a stranger. Sometimes it’s easy to take public

servants like Mr. Morgan for granted. Please join me in commending Lt. Morgan the next time you see him.

Most of you probably remember Mrs. Wilma Turner, who taught for many years here at Boyd before retiring at the end of the last school year. Over the holidays, Mrs. Turner was briefly hospitalized. Thankfully, her condition was not as serious as originally thought, and she is doing better. Please remember to keep Mrs. Turner in your prayers.
