This school year is off to a great start! We are welcoming several new teachers, new students, and a new principal! Mr. Weldon Parkinson has joined us as principal this year and we could not be happier. We are truly counting our blessings.
PTF is very active planning for fall events. The Seniors are already planning their trip. LACE is recruiting new members. Athletic practices are held daily and anticipation builds as basketball season is just around the corner.
Please come out and join us soon. Have lunch in the cafeteria with your child! You are always welcome here at Boyd Christian School!!!

While we study the business of Theater, our class will engage first hand in program revenue. As we approach our play, Couch Potato Santa, we will be selling 5.00 “Good Luck” ads. Your business may sponsor an ad as well. If your business chooses to purchase a business card ad, we ask that you send 20.00 and a sample business card. We plan to have three productions so you will have ample advertisement.
Thank you for your help. If any of you would be willing to organize the program or help with typing, please let me know. The deadline for an ad is Dec 1, 2010.

Drama Class Sells Mustaches on Sticks~
To raise money for costumes, the drama class sold mustaches on sticks today at applefest. You can continue to purchase them through Halloween through the drama class. They will also be available at the Artisans of the Cumberland Craft Fair in Mrs. Sullens' booth. Thank you to everyone who purchased and posed!!!

Parents
Beginning this year, 6th-8th grade will have an annual off campus overnight activity. This year’s activity will be our trip to Washington D.C. and the following year we will visit the Land Between the Lakes. All parents are highly encouraged to sign their middle school student up for this educational experience. The Chattanooga Aquarium will be the third year location as students spend a ”Night in the Deep” and later participate in a Zip-line activity. By the fourth year, the cycle will rotate as the Washington D.C. trip becomes available again.
Don’t forget our Community Service Day on Thursday, Oct. 7. Students need to wear old clothes and be ready to begin at 8:00.

Fall pictures will be made on Tuesday, Oct. 5 for all students, faculty, and staff. These photos will appear in the school yearbook so be sure to look your best!

After weeks of planning and hard work, Applefest has finally arrived! On Saturday, Oct 9, LACE will host its Fall fundraiser that will be sure to provide fun, food, games and entertainment! Don’t miss the chili cook-off, silent auction, and so much more between the hours of 10:00-5:00.

Boyd T-shirt, license plate, and decal order forms will be sent home today with students. P.T.F President Holly Hodges has done a wonderful job in selecting Bronco designs that represent our school with both pride and spirit.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, Ryan Olynick will meet with boys in grades 1st-5th for a brief Cub Scout meeting after chapel. A Cub Scout School Night has been scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 28 at 6:30 p.m..

Athletic Fundraiser-
Discount Cards Have Arrived!!!
The Athletic Teams are introducing their fall fundraiser. This fundraiser will be
the biggest fundraiser of the season. Each athlete has received 10 cards to sell at
$10 each.
The athletic team and the individual who sales the most cards will be rewarded at
the end of the sale.
All Elementary Athletes should deliver their money to Greta Hoover, the Middle
School to Steve Hillis and the High School to Chris Perry. All money and any
leftover cards should be turned in by November 1st.
Thanks for helping make this fundraiser a success!!!

Community Service Day
Mr. Marquette has assigned Thursday, October 7 as our first Community Service Day for grades Pre-K-12. There will be one work day each semester for a total of two per year. These very important work days are required and will be considered an unexcused absence if not present. Our first work day will consist of preparing the school for Applefest, both indoors and out. Please have students wear work clothes and be ready to begin at 8:00 Friday morning.
Our second work day will be an excellent opportunity to serve our community. Although we have not yet chosen a project, we look forward to hearing your ideas as we strive for “excellence in all we do.”
Edline
Due to its antiquated system, we will be discontinuing the use of Edline. It is our goal to provide a new product that will bring both versatility and service to our Boyd family.
We would also like to announce the arrival of an updated school website that should be available within the weeks to come.

Parent Teacher Conferences have been scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 29, 3:00-6:00. Meetings will be held in the cafeteria for Middle and High School. We apologize for this falling on Wednesday Bible study; it will not be a problem in the future.

Make plans to attend our Fall Bookfair which begins today and will be open from 8:00-2:45. Family night begins 3:00 Tuesday and ends at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome!

Theater Arts ~ Project I

Mrs. Sullens' Theater class just finished reading Pygmalion. The students were asked to replicate a scene from the play or movie. The project must have included one 3-D element. They are on display in the library.
Clay Prater was awarded the outstanding project award.
