7-20-12 Dear Parents: The BCS PTF is working on a cookbook for fall and Holiday sales. We need your help! We want EVERYONE in our Boyd family to be a part of this cookbook. Please send 3-5 recipes to school or email them to us per student in your family. Please feel free to share why this recipe is special or honor someone with your submittal. For example, I may send my mother’s Banana Bread recipe and title it Banana Bread, submitted by: Tabetha Sullens in honor of Terry Newport. On the other hand, if you have a special memory of a particular recipe, feel free to share that with us, too! We look forward to compiling this book. We are very excited to be a part of such a wonderful school. Please send the recipes to Terry in the office by Wednesday, August 15, 2012 or email them to: Holly Hodges, PTF President at HDHODGES@blomand.net Thank you for your participation!!!!!

We are going to kick-off our fundraising efforts before school even starts back with an easy sale!! Emails have gone out with a 20oz. Drink order form for Dr. Pepper products attached. We are selling cases of 24 for $21 each. This makes each drink only .88 cents. You can’t beat that price! There is a great variety and the drinks will be at Boyd for you to pick up and deliver at registration on August 7. Please start selling right away. All orders and money need to be turned in to Mrs. Terri no later than July 27. If each family sells 5 cases we could make some easy money. The drinks are listed at the bottom of the order form. Where Will Your Treasures Be?

Matt 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.

Our only earthly treasure that we truly have in life is our family. Our family can be laid up in heaven if we only heed God’s word. As parents, our responsibility is to “train up a child in the way he should go.” Prov. 22:6 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Eph. 6:4 The way in which he should go is to heaven and that way is Christ. Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.” John 14:16 How can we as parents allow our children to be taught in a system of education that does not teach Christ?

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.

We justify this educational process by saying, “It is secular education and not religious education.” Does not all true wisdom and knowledge come from God? Who planted this seed of deception in the minds of parents? Parents, don’t be deceived for he (the devil) is a roaring lion. I Peter 5:8 Christian parents wonder why our children leave the church, never to return. Finally, I ask the question again, ‘Where will your treasures be?”

As one great Humanist triumphantly declared: Education is thus a most powerful ally of Hunanism, and every American public school is a school of Humanism. What can the theistic Sunday School, meeting for an hour once a week, and teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five day program of humanistic teaching? Charles Francis Potter said that nearly 100 years ago! He gave counsel in the Scopes’ Monkey Trial and also in the writing of The Humanist Manifesto, 1933.

From Mr. Parkinson

We have now entered the final nine week period of the school year 2011-12. Before we know it, graduation will be here. It is always sad to see a group of students leaving F.C. Boyd Christian School and going out into the world. However, we would never want to hold them back. It is a part of the cycle of life. We are so thankful to our seniors and their parents who have supported BCS over the years and hope they will continue to give their support. We wish the best for our seniors and hope they will always remember and exemplify the Christian principals they have learned from their parents as well as here at school.
Soon we will have another group of seniors, the class of 2013. We look forward to working with them as well as all of our students Pre K-12. I know that the staff will be one who will support the students as they carry on the proud traditions of F.C. Boyd Christian School.
I encourage all of our parents and students to talk up the school. Encourage others who might have an interest in attending BCS. Talk to people about the advantages of a Christian education. We need your involvement as we move toward the 2012-13 school year. We need the support of all our local churches. Many of you have done this over many years and we are so thankful for that support. My prayer is that all of our congregations of the Lord’s church would get involved. As individuals, please pray for the school and make donations to BCS, big or little, it all helps.
For the present, I need the help of our students and their parents in Pre K-11th grade. I don’t mean to sound redundant in my plea, but we really need to get an accurate number count for the next school year. Before a budget can be done, before supplies can be ordered, before staff can be hired, we have to know the number of our present students who are coming back to BCS next year. Please take time to fill out a registration form and return it to Mrs. Terry Stubblefield in the front office. If there is a problem, please let us know. I am sure we can work it out. Early registration ends March 30.
Continue to keep F.C. Boyd Christian School in your prayers.

Sincerely,
Weldon Parkinson, Principal

From Mr. Parkinson

What an exciting time to be at Boyd Christian School! Every day I see the benefits of attending BCS in the lives of our students. I am so thankful for the parents of our young people who have chosen to give a Christian education to their children. I am thankful for the Christian teachers who sacrifice to teach here as well as the support staff and the work that they do.

I want to challenge every family to bring one new student to Boyd Christian School for the 2012-13 school year. Many times your minister may challenge you to bring one person to Christ during the year. Many times it is what our young people learn in their association with their peers that will determine the destiny of their souls. What better place to be than BCS during their school years and associate with students who are being encouraged to develop Christian morals?

I would like to see every child in this area receive a Christian education if that is what they and their parents desire. If you are interested, please come and visit with us at BCS and let's sit down and talk. If you do not feel you can afford it, scholarships are available on a limited basis. Let's talk and see if something can be worked out. We have donations being made for that purpose and encourage others to also make donations for those interested in a Christian education.

I continue to ask for prayers for the school, its teachers, and administrators. Our school is in need of more students. I am convinced that they are out there; we just have to contact them and encourage them to come and take a look. I think you will like what you see going on at Boyd Christian School.

In Him,
Weldon Parkinson, Principal

ACT Prep Classes

Motlow to offer ACT prep class

Area high school students planning to take the ACT this spring have the opportunity to prepare for the test with a course offered at three of Motlow College locations in Moore County, Fayetteville and McMinnville.
The ACT Prep class focuses on the four areas of the ACT: English, mathematics, reading and science.
Emphasis will be on test-taking skills, logical analysis and pacing oneself. Practice tests in each of the four areas will be administered during the course and at the conclusion.
The cost of the class is $60, with an additional $30.95 to purchase a textbook, which will be available on the first night of class.
Checks should be made payable to Motlow College Bookstore, will be required.
Registration forms can be obtained online at www.mscc.edu/cpes. Separate forms are available for each Motlow location offering the course.
Completed forms are to be mailed or faxed to Extended Services at Motlow College. Registration is not complete until payment has been received.
Sheila Gann will be the instructor for the ACT Prep course at Motlow’s Moore County campus. Classes will take place from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays. Course dates are Feb. 27, March 5, 12, 19, and April 2. There is no class scheduled for March 26.
The course is limited to 35 students and the deadline to register is 4:30 p.m. Feb. 22.
The Motlow College Fayetteville Center will offer the course on four consecutive Thursdays, March 15, 22, 29 and April 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. The class is limited to 25 students and the deadline to register is March 8.
Gayle “Mimi” Hughes will be the instructor.

Monday, January 16, 2012

Today has been set aside to honor a man who did much to insure that
all of mankind has an equal opportunity in this great nation of ours.
Martin Luther King showed us that change can be made through peaceful demonstrations. He showed us that we do not have to strike back when someone does us wrong. He made so many of us to stop and look at the way things were being done in this nation and that the way we had been doing things was not right.

His dream was that one day we would be one; one in opportunity, one in support of this nation, and where each one would be paid a living wage. We have come a long way, but there still is more to do. It is now up to us to carry forth what Martin Luther King and others like him, started. If this nation is to ever achieve what it is able to accomplish, it is going to take all of us doing our part. I like the words of John F. Kennedy when he said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask what you can do for your country."

Men of all colors have fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy today and will continue to do so. Martin Luther King fought and died for a cause in which he believed. Are we willing to do the same? Are we willing to take a part in helping this great nation to be what MLK envisioned? If so we must be willing participants in the democratic process. We must not tear down but build up by being good citizens of the land in which we live. We must ask what can I do for my country.

I think this is what Dr. King would have wanted.

CONFERENCE
TOURNAMENT

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

It is good to be back after the Christmas break.  I hope that the time off refreshed you as it did me.  It is hard for me to realize that it is 2012.  It seems the older I get the faster time flies.  Won’t it be grand when we get to heaven and not have to worry about time.  Here on this earth though, we must use our time wisely and in service to our Creator.

I want to congratulate our Middle School girls for winning the Morrison Ruritan Invitational Basketball Tournament.  I also encourage you to come out and see our students play.  All the teams, elementary through high school, play hard and give their best efforts every night.  I know the teams will appreciate your support.

This current school year will be over before we know it and we must plan for the 2012-13 school year.  It is my hope and prayer that all of our current students will be returning and that several new students will be coming our way.  If you know of anyone who is considering sending their children to BCS and you think it would help by my talking to them, please let me know.  More than anything else, we need to increase our enrollment.

In closing, I would like to thank each and every student who remembered me at Christmas with gifts, homemade candy, and sweet cards.  Truly, I am blessed to be working at Boyd Christian School with such a wonderful family of students, faculty, and staff.
                   January 3, 2012

Welcome back to our students, parents, faculty, and staff!

Report cards will go out Thursday, January 5th.  If any parent is in need of a conference, please contact the school office to schedule that appointment.

Reminder to parents:  Please remember to watch News Channel 2 for winter weather information and school closings.  Also, we have several Foodland Plus Cards on hand for sale and Kroger cards are always an easy fundraiser for the school.

On behalf of Boyd Christian School, we would like to offer our sincere thanks to Mr. Ray Talbert of Homeland Community Bank for sponsoring the recent workshop “Healthy Choices for Youth”.  This workshop was organized for both public and private schools in Warren County to discuss very important issues students are facing today such as teen suicide, ADD, ADHD, anxiety, and depression.  Homeland Bank generously gave each guidance counselor a $500 voucher to purchase materials being sold at the workshop.  Books purchased for Boyd School included subjects on bullying, anxiety, depression, divorce, OCD, ADD, ADHD, and building character, just to name a few.
Please take the time to thank Mr. Talbert for his concern for the youth in Warren County and his investment in their future.
