Where Will Your Treasures Be?
Matt 6:19-21 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven , where moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal. For where your treasure is, there will be your heart also.
Our only earthly treasure that we truly have in life is our family. Our family can be laid up in heaven if we only heed God’s word. As parents, our responsibility is to “train up a child in the way he should go.” Prov. 22:6 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Eph. 6:4 The way in which he should go is to heaven and that way is Christ. Christ said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh to the Father, but by me.” John 14:16 How can we as parents allow our children to be taught in a system of education that does not teach Christ?
Psalms 111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth forever. Proverbs 1:7 The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility.
We justify this educational process by saying, “It is secular education and not religious education.” Does not all true wisdom and knowledge come from God? Who planted this seed of deception in the minds of parents? Parents, don’t be deceived for he (the devil) is a roaring lion. I Peter 5:8 Christian parents wonder why our children leave the church, never to return. Finally, I ask the question again, ‘Where will your treasures be?”
As one great Humanist triumphantly declared: Education is thus a most powerful ally of Hunanism, and every American public school is a school of Humanism. What can the theistic Sunday School, meeting for an hour once a week, and teaching only a fraction of the children, do to stem the tide of a five day program of humanistic teaching? Charles Francis Potter said that nearly 100 years ago! He gave counsel in the Scopes’ Monkey Trial and also in the writing of The Humanist Manifesto, 1933.
