From the Superintendent
I want to take this opportunity to welcome all of you back for another school year. This is an exciting time here at Boyd Christian. We have several new additions to our faculty as well as to our student body. I know that all of you who are returning will join me in welcoming those new faces to our school.
Many of you have already met our new high school math teacher, Mr. Alan Burger. Last week, Mr. Burger’s grandmother, Mrs. Jennie Glenn, gave us a very generous donation of $1,000 to purchase new books for the pre-calculus class we have added this year. In addition, Mrs. Donna Goolsby, the grandmother of one of our new middle school students, Christian Barrett, has donated $1,000 toward the purchase of portable classrooms. We have also had some smaller donations recently. I want to thank Mrs. Glenn, Mrs. Goolsby, and our other donors for their generosity. Without the kindness of individuals like this, our work would not be possible.
SACS Accreditation Update
On Monday, August 4, Mr. Ronnie Parks from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools met with our staff during inservice. Mr. Parks has been assigned to be our field consultant as we move through the accreditation process this year. We are hopeful that an evaluation team will visit us sometime in the spring. We are currently looking for a chairperson for the team. Mr. Parks indicated that we are ahead of schedule and well along in the process to finish before the end of this school year. One of the next steps is to survey the school community. We will keep you posted as we move through the process.
