News from the Elementary


Kindergarten…Mrs. Hoover

We are very busy in kindergarten this week! We are still working on recognizing letters and numbers. In Bible, we are learning the books of the Old Testament. We are improving every day on our handwriting! We will be decorating our "All About Me" posters this week! Have a great week!

Grade 1…Mrs. Keele

We hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend! This week will be very busy in 1st grade. In Social Studies we will begin studying about communities and community helpers. Addition facts will keep us busy in math. In our Bible class, we will be studying about Joseph. Our reading story this week is "Our Family's Market". We will also be working on art for the fair.

Grade 2…Mrs. Newby

2nd graders will be working on fair art this week. Three students will be chosen to represent our class from each category. We will also do a special art project in social studies this week with landforms.

Grade 3…Ms. Farless

This week the third graders will be learning about the different groups of animals. Specifically, they will be learning about insects and arachnids. In social studies class, they will be completing a project about the three types of communities. On Wednesday, they will be having their first social studies test over chapter one. Don't forget to study! Our student of the week this week is Dakota Spitzer. Congratulations to Dakota!

Grade 4…Mrs. Vandagriff

We hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day! This week we are very busy. We will have a Science Test over Chapter 1 on Thursday. On Friday, we will be having a Language Test over Chapter 2. Be sure and check the classroom newsletter for other information and important dates. Have a great week!!

Grade 5…Mr. Burks

The fifth grade will be completing their Tennessee flour and salt maps this week. Entries for the art exhibit are almost finished as well. They would like to give a big thanks to Mrs. Rigsby for all her help.
