News from the Elementary
Kindergarten…Mrs. Hoover
Mrs. Greta's kindergarten will be learning the sound for C and K this week! We will be reading a book called "Bear Snores On". We will continue to learn our books of the Bible. We will be making some cool Halloween art! I hope everyone had a great fall break!
Grade 1…Mrs. Keele
We hope that everyone had a wonderful fall break. Don't forget the scavenger hunt that continues through Thursday. Please see the school blog for all the details. We will have a spelling test this Friday. Our reading stories for the week are: "Jog, Frog, Jog" and Tadpoles to Frogs". Please remember to read daily and color the reading logs. Have a great week!
Grade 2…Mrs. Newby
2nd grade enjoyed pioneer days before our break. We want to thank David and Iona King for coming and sharing so much with us. We played games of long ago and we were able to sample foods as well. We even made butter! A big thank you also goes to Mrs. Kim Rigsby for making all of the girls bonnets. Pioneer days were a huge success.
Grade 3…Ms. Farless
I hope everyone had a wonderful Fall Break! Now we are back to work. In spelling class this week, the third graders will be learning how to spell words that make the short o and long o sounds. In language class we will be discussing descriptive paragraphs. Next week, the third graders will be writing their own descriptive paragraph. In math class, we will be reviewing addition and subtraction. On Thursday we will be taking a science test. Don't forget to study! Finally, our student of the week is Noah Bost. Congratulations to Noah!
Grade 4…Mrs. Vandagriff
We hope everyone had a wonderful and safe fall break. This week we will be finishing Chapter 3 in Tennessee History. We are also beginning a new chapter in Language over common and proper nouns. Our Reading Test will be on Friday this week. Also, don't forget about the Bake Sale on Friday. Have a great week!!
Grade 5…Mr. Burks
We hope everyone has had a relaxing and enjoyable fall break. This week fifth grade will begin a new unit in science on Physical Science. We will also be learning and using algebraic expressions in math. Reading and Spelling test are Wednesdays. Tennessee History enters the period after Reconstruction. There will be a test on Chapter 4 Lesson 2 by Friday. We have been working on the Beatitudes for memory work, and studying Abraham and Sarah. This week we continue are studies as we learn about Hagar and Ishmael in Genesis 16. Scavenger Hunt begins this week and students are excited knowing the fifth grade will win the contest. Thanks for all you do to make my job so enjoyable.
