Senior Fundraisers:
The senior class will be having a Boston Butt and Ham sale in order to raise funds for their senior trip. Please support these folks by ordering by December 8th. The delivery date will be Dec. 16th.
There will also be a “Parent Day Out” fundraiser on December 16th that will give parents an opportunity to go shopping without their children. Please check with the senior class for more details.

Senior trip deposits are due Wednesday, Nov. 30th.

Don’t miss the Pep Rally tomorrow at 2:30 which includes a three-legged race, a cheer competition, and plenty of school spirit!
On November 9th, Ben Bailey, minister at Central Church of Christ, will be holding a special chapel discussing creation at 8:45. All classes will be included and parents are welcome to attend.

Changes to School Calendar:
January 2nd will be a NO SCHOOL day for all students. The first day back from Christmas break will be January 3rd. In addition to these calendar changes, February 20th will be a Staff Development Day and students are dismissed at 12:00.
Winter Weather
Winter is on the way and you can count on NEWS 2 SNOWTRACKER to be your fastest source of school closing information. NEWS 2 THIS MORNING will run school information from 4:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. as well as earlier or later as needed. We will not report school closings

Christmas Luminaries
The Junior Auxiliary “Christmas in the Park” has been set for Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the downtown square in McMinnville. Christmas Luminaries can be purchased for $10 in memory of a loved one or to honor a special veteran. If you would like to participate, please contact Holly Hillis, Junior Auxiliary representative before the Dec. 1 deadline.

From Mr. Parkinson & Newsletter

It is hard for me to realize it, but this is Thanksgiving week and I have so much for which I am thankful. I am thankful for a God that loves me and desires that I do those things necessary to live with him eternally. I am thankful for Jesus who died for my sins. I am thankful for my family with whom I will celebrate Thanksgiving, God willing. I am thankful for all the students, teachers, staff, and patrons at Boyd Christian School. Finally, I am thankful for God blessing this school in the past and pray he will continue to do so in the future.

We continue to have a good school year. Our students and teachers are working hard and the staff is so consistent in its support. However, none of this would be possible except for the support of the parents and patrons who have worked tirelessly in the different fundraising activities. I regret that we seemingly have to continuously ask our parents and patrons to support this or that fundraising activity. However, that is the way it is. We stand at a little over $40,000 in our effort to raise $120,000 through the 100 for $100 a month for 12 months. We seem to have hit a wall since Applefest, but I am convinced that with God’s help, we will achieve our goal before the end of the school year. If any of you know of an individual who could give a substantial amount toward this effort, I would appreciate hearing about it. If I need to visit with anyone who can give but need to hear about what we are trying to do, please let me know.

My spirit continues to be lifted up by our students and staff. I have never worked in an atmosphere as conducive to learning as we have here at BCS. The students are eager to learn and our teachers work hard to have lesson plans prepared that are challenging. Truly your children are in good hands being taught by Godly men and women. They are being nurtured in the ways of the Lord and I am sure this will prove beneficial for Christ’s kingdom in the future.

Please keep BCS in your prayers. Tell others of the benefits of a Christian education. Encourage those needing a tax break to give to Boyd Christian School. If you are preparing your will, please consider leaving a gift for the school. You will be investing in the future of the church.

God bless all of you and your families during not only the Thanksgiving season, but for the rest of your days upon the earth and most importantly, eternity.

Attention Students: The kitchen coolers need to be cleaned out by Tuesday, Nov. 22. After this date, any leftover food or drink will be discarded
School proofs and/or money are due Tuesday, Nov. 29. Please return to your homeroom teacher.

Student Council will be adopting a local foster child at Christmas and provide gifts for them. In order to raise funds to purchase these gifts, a bake sale will be held in the cafeteria all this week. All items will sell for .50 cents. Please remember these important dates and support this worthy cause.

Progress Reports
Progress reports for each class will be sent home on Wednesday, Nov. 16. After receiving parents signature, please return to the teacher by Friday, Nov. 19.

The Thanksgiving meal will be served on Thursday, Nov. 17 for those who made reservations. Please arrive at your child’s regular lunch time.

Foodland Plus Cards

L.A.C.E. Pecans

Veterans Day Program
On Friday, Nov. 11, BCS will conduct a Veterans Day Program in the school gym at 8:45. Mr. Lane Dix has organized a special day which will include the Veterans of Foreign War and possibly other organizations. It is our honor to invite all past and present servicemen to attend this special day. If you are planning to invite your friend or relative, please write down their branch of service, when they served, and any special awards they may have received. This information can be turned in to the office or Mr. Lane Dix.

BCS Fest
The BCS Fest Tailgate Party starts at 3:00 this Friday, Nov. 11. If you have purchased the presale yearbook, admission is free! Special thanks to Mr. Brandon Parsley for organizing this event and making the 2011 yearbook one to remember!
Savage Gulf Hike
The Boyd Christian School Outdoor Club will hike Savage Gulf on Saturday, November 12. We will leave the school parking lot at 8;30 a.m. and return at approximately 2:0 p.m. that afternoon. Transportation will be provided. Those going on the hike should take along a jacket, water, and a sack lunch. Also, it is important to wear proper shoes and socks. Do not wear flip flops or crocs, please!

The hike will begin at the main entrance of the park. The trail is 5-6 miles long and should not be too strenuous. We look forward to spending an enjoyable day with you in one of Tennessee’s most beautiful wilderness areas.
