October 20,2008 Welcome Back

From the Superintendent

I hope that everyone had a safe and restful Fall Break. We here at Boyd are happy to see everyone back, and we look forward to the rest of the semester. We have several exciting events planned.

Please remember that on Tuesday, November 4, we will be having Bring a Friend to School Day. This is the only day of the year that we will be in school when Warren County Schools are closed. We are asking all students in grades K-11 to talk to their friends who might be interested in attending Boyd. We would like for each student who is able to bring one friend to school with them on that day. This will give their friends an opportunity to see what life here at Boyd is like. This week we will be sending home a registration form for any visitors that may want to join us.

Our annual Thanksgiving Lunch will be on Friday, November 21. The lunch will once again be catered by Wilma Jean’s Kitchen. Mrs. Sullens will be sending more information home this week. We hope that many of you will be able to join us for lunch on that day.

Many of you have recently purchased scrip cards from Mrs. Sullens. Those cards have now arrived. Please contact her if you have not received yours. This is an excellent way to help the school raise money. I just received mine, and Boyd made over $40 just off of the cards I bought. I did not have to spend one cent more than I normally would anyway. If you have not yet had a chance to see Tabetha about scrip cards, please do so.

Help Needed with Extended Care
We are looking for additional help for our extended care program. If you are interested, please contact Terry Stubblefield at school.

Congratulations to Olivia Majors, Miss Warren County

Congratulations to Olivia Majors who recently won the Miss Warren County pageant. Olivia is the daughter of Joe and Dietra Dunlap and Buddy Majors. We also want to congratulate Monica Hillis, the daughter of Lesa and Michael Hillis, who was named the first runner-up, and Lauren Wilcher, the daughter of Glenda and Lynn Wilcher, who was named to the Top Ten. Lauren also received the Presidential Award and was named Class Beauty for the junior class. We are so proud of thesey oung ladies and the excellent way in which they represent their families and their school. Congratulations to Monica Hillis for also winning Miss Congeniality and Best Hair. She is such a fine young lady.

Tomorrow, October 21, our high school juniors and seniors will travel to Tennessee Tech. They will leave at 8:00 AM and should return before school is over. They will need to bring $4.50 each for lunch. This is a change in the date that the college originally sent.
